Amber Smith

Bio

Sergeant Amber Smith was born outside of Chicago, IL. She later graduated from Central High School in Westosha, WI. Following graduation she moved to Virginia and later enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Combat Documentation and Production Specialist.

After completing basic training and advanced individual training, Smith was stations in Yongsan, South Korea. While assigned there she worked in the Visual Information Services Center and also as the personal photographer to the USFK Commander.

After Korea, Smith was assigned to the 55th Signal Company (Combat Camera) in Fort George G. Meade, MD. She worked as a Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and as the Training NCO before being selected to attend the Military Journalism Program with a focus on Motion Media.

After graduation from the program, Smith will be assigned to Fort Irwin, CA.

Smith’s achievements include: 2 Army Commendation Medals, 4 Army Achievement Medals, and 5 Certificates of Achievement and 2 Good Conduct Medals. She was awarded the 2010 Department of the Army MWR photography award for her photo entitled, “What’s for Dinner”, and in 2014 she was awarded the D.C. Shoot-off Ford Award for Best Cinematography.
