Winter in the Park

Serving over 62 million visitors annually, New York has 180 state park sites including ocean-front beach sites on Long Island, views of the Hudson River, deep canyons in the Finger Lakes, vast wilderness in Allegany, and sites in the Niagara Falls area. Many of the historical sites provide a view into the past through storytelling, exhibits, and military reenactments. The parks offer camping, hunting, boating, hiking, and golf, among other things.

I spent all winter visiting New York state parks to see what they have to offer in the cold and snow. Even when nature looks frozen and dead, the wilderness is alive year-round.
