Lauren Gramley

Bio

Born in Springfield, Missouri, Sergeant Lauren Gramley enlisted in the Marine Corps on Sept. 24, 2012, and attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. She completed training as a Combat Photographer at Fort Meade, Maryland and was assigned to 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California.
During her time at 1st MLG, she served as a photographer, graphic designer, and videographer for the unit.
In October of 2015 she was assigned to the 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade in Manama, Bahrain. There, she served as the Photography Chief for the brigade and participated in missions in support of operation Inherent Resolve in Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan. On August 2nd, 2016 she was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
In December of 2016 Sergeant Gramley transferred to The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. During her time there, she served as a forensic photographer on recovery missions in search of America’s fallen service members who’s remains have yet to be recovered. In addition to her duties as a forensic photographer, she served as a photo and video storyteller during missions to Vietnam, Laos, and Russia. She also designed the official 2017 POW/MIA Remembrance Day Poster that was distributed to the family members of the nation’s fallen.
Sergeant Gramley is currently attending the Military Photojournalism Program at Newhouse at Syracuse University, New York, and will be transferring to the Defense Information School to become an instructor.
Gramley’s personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Medal.

Gramley will be continuing her journey through the Marine Corps with her husband, Carson Gramley, and their puppy, Xena.
