James Lee

Bio

James Lee was born August 9, 1987 in Chicago, IL. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Tamuning, Guam and entered the Navy from Harrisburg, PA on March 13, 2013. After completing basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes he entered the fleet as an undesignated seaman aboard the USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44), where he went on a nine-month deployment to the Persian Gulf.

Petty Officer Lee tested into the mass communication specialist rating and was sent forward-deployed aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) where he completed two deployments doing freedom of navigation patrols in the South China Sea. While onboard he qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. After two years of on-the-job-training he was accepted into the Syracuse Military Visual Journalism program.

Petty Officer Lee is assigned to the Military Photojournalism Program at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, NY. Upon graduation from the program, he will report to Defense Media Activity, Fort Meade, MD in June 2018.
