Like many service members, I\u2019ve had a number of near-death experiences resulting in PSTD. As a result of my I\u2019ve been having extremely vivid dreams where I\u2019m drowning. In these dreams I\u2019m either having a replay of times I\u2019ve almost drowned on the job, or I\u2019m back in training- holding my breath while under extreme physical stress. Most nights I wake up gasping for air, so I\u2019m getting tested for sleep apnea. My intention for this shot was to exploit the dichotomy between light and dark to showcase the feeling of an apneic episode as well as document the reality that goes along with it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve spent the past 8 years specializing in underwater photography.
