Suntrana “Sun” Allen, owner of 754 Barber Shop located at 754 N. Salina St., provides custom detailed haircuts to her patrons in Syracuse, N.Y. April 2, 2016. Sun first began cutting hair by practicing on her brother when they were kids. At that time they couldn’t afford to pay for hair cuts, so she used her father’s trimmers to accomplish the task.

After many years of struggling to thrive in a male dominant career field, Sun is an example of hard work and steadfast dedication to her community.
